Lucky, my phone's battery swelled 🙄

Kung sinuswerte ka nga naman.

After I got my phone's screen replaced, now the battery decided to swell.

Is my phone cursed?

My husband and I have the same phone model, and while he's overusing his like it's always drained or charging it when it's already at 5% while playing Mobile Legends, he hasn't had any problems in its screen nor its battery...

While mine, which I only use for online shopping, chatting, watching videos, and playing Shopee games, already spent Php 16k for the screen replacement, and now, the battery. 😑

I can't remember the first time I noticed that the middle of my phone doesn't seem to fit in the case anymore.

Sorry for my bad memory.

But I know I already noticed it weeks before the major bloat.

What made me realize the problem was on the evening of March 21, 2025, Friday, when it got fully drained.

I charged my phone as I normally would, waited for it to fully charge, then I turned it on to use it.

I did the normal stuff as usual while my husband was playing ML again at that time, and his battery was at 54%.

There I noticed my phone's battery % going down faster than usual.

It got fully drained again in an hour while my husband's phone's battery was still around 30-40%.

The middle part of my phone was coming out of the case and when I checked, the back cover of my phone was already open.

I'm afraid to charge my phone again so I let it drained as it was, until we were few kilometers away from Samsung Service Center Dagupan the next day.

I charged it using my portable power bank, just enough to power it on and turn it to Maintenance Mode.

I've set a price limit up to Php 5,000 for the repair in my mind.

My hubby also inquired the price to his contact in Greenhills and told him it would be Php 3,500.

When we arrived at the service center, I just showed them my phone and told them the screen was recently replaced and the back cover opened.

They got it checked and returned to me saying the battery was the problem. It swelled.

My hubby asked them why it wasn't detected when the screen was replaced (because they had me sign a paper with all the checks they've done during that time).

They just answered that the battery was okay that time. 🤷‍♀️

Their price was Php 2,800 for the battery so I proceeded with it and paid a Php 1,000 downpayment.

They need to order it and will be delivered within 3 days or so.

The glue and labor are still covered by my screen's 90-day warranty.

I brought home my S22 instead of leaving it there but I went back to using my iPhone 6 for the time being. But it's almost incompatible to any of the apps I use now, except for FB Messenger (at least!).

March 25, Tuesday, the service center called me that the new battery has arrived.

We went there the next day as early as we can and we arrived around 9:30am.

While my phone was being repaired, we spent the time at Bo's Coffee within the same building.

I ordered Vanilla and sipped it sparringly so we can stay longer while working with our laptops. 🫣

I was hoping the repair will be done by lunch, but we were already hungry so we left to eat.

Villa Isabelle is our go-to Filipino restaurant that my dad previously introduced to us, which is nearby.

Fortunately the replacement was finished by around 1pm.

Got the phone back, inspected it, and paid the remaining Php 1,800.

It also has a 90-day warranty so I'm using it fully while I'm at it.

They gave me back the old, bloated battery as well. It kind of feels soft, the swelled part it is.

I was thinking of trading my S22 for the new iPhone 16e, but when I inquired at Power Mac Center, the trade-in value was at Php 8,000 only.

I even saw that the salesman answered in the CompAsia app that the screen is "heavily scratched". I wanted to slap the "new screen replacement" to his face, but I didn't dare to because that could give away that my phone had screen problem. 🥴

But anyway, I think I'm just going to keep this since I already spent a total of Php19K for the repairs.

And if there will be a good deal for the iPhone 16e, you bet I'll switch to it so I can move away from using Samsung.
